Gymboard: From Muscle Map to Measurable Progress
A mobile-first, offline-first workout tracker that connects body map → muscle → exercise → technique → workout → progress in one flow. Explore an interactive anatomy map, learn exercise setup and form, log sets with a rep counter and rest timer, then review progressive overload, personal records, training history, and body metrics. Workout data stays on-device by default, with optional Firebase sync for signed-in accounts.

Problem
Workout trackers often begin at the exercise log, leaving anatomy discovery, technique guidance, session capture, and long-term progress split across separate tools.
Approach
Designed a six-step flow from body map to progress. Built an interactive muscle explorer and exercise library, then connected technique guides to a workout logger with sets, reps, load, rep counter, and rest timer. Added local-first persistence, optional account sync, personal-record detection, progressive-overload guidance, calendar history, and body metrics.
Results
Delivered a production-hosted, offline-first PWA with local workout logging, optional Firebase sync, account-isolated records, and progress views. Progress photos remain on-device. The project demonstrates an integrated training workflow; no user adoption or fitness-outcome claim is made.
Gymboard: From Muscle Map to Measurable Progress
Product Flow
Gymboard links six steps into a mobile-first training workflow: Body → Muscle → Exercise → Technique → Workout → Progress. The interactive anatomy map helps users choose a muscle group, the exercise library provides technique guidance, and each guide can lead directly into a logged workout.
Training Tools
- Log exercises, sets, reps, load, effort, duration, and rest.
- Compare recent sessions and use double-progression guidance for next-session targets.
- Track personal records, training volume, workout history, calendar activity, and muscle workload.
- Record bodyweight and measurements; view weekly trends and local progress photos.
Data and Architecture
Built with Next.js and TypeScript. IndexedDB provides local-first storage and offline workout logging; optional Firebase Auth and Firestore sync signed-in account data. Account data is isolated, guest data is not automatically uploaded, and progress photos remain on the device.
Live Demo
gym.shiverion.com hosts the production PWA. The Gymboard source repository is public.
